If you are thinking of starting to work from home, there are some serious things you need to consider such as tax, national insurance and benefits.
The Starting up your Business pages on the Inland Revenue site, are a good place to start and you can also call or book an appointment online with their Business Support Teams.
The CAB's excellent Adviceguide website gives up to date advice and information on self-employment. There are also 'factsheets' for you to download and print.
The DirectGov website includes helpful Government advice and forms that you can download too.
Business Link The national business advice service provides some great practical advice and has lots of interactive tools to help you get organised. There's also a postcode search to help you find contact details for your local Business Link. "Use it for to advice and help with business plans etc or to access a wide network of business support organisations."
