Loss of a Child
This is a subject rarely talked about. It is difficult to imagine how we would cope if it happened to us, and perhaps, how we are coping, if it has happened. Losing a child at any stage - miscarriage, still birth, as a toddler, or even once they've reached adulthood is shocking and traumatic, and a child's death can affect not only the parents, but very many others too.
If you have been affected by the death of a child and would like to talk with someone, then call the Child Death Helpline.
This wonderful charity is staffed by volunteers who themselves have experienced the loss of a child, and are supported by a team of professional staff. It does not take the place of counselling, but is a chance to talk with someone who has been through some of the things you are going through, and can offer support and advice.
It is so very important at a time when you might find that many other people, perhaps even close friends, do not know what to say or find they can't find the right way to talk to you about what has happened.
Child Death Helpline is committed to offering a caring, confidential, non-judgemental, safe service based on the highest professional standards.
However recently or long ago the death, whenever you need someone to listen, the Child Death Helpline is there, every day of the year.
If you ring the Helpline you will be given the opportunity to talk with a bereaved parent about anything regarding the death of a child.

This wonderful helpline is for anyone affected by the death of a child of any age, from pre-birth to adult.
It's for parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, other relatives. Also, friends, teachers, emergency services staff and healthcare professionals...
