Yes it's a drag but it could save you a small fortune. You know the black hole in your house where the odd socks go? Well, the school has a much bigger black hole and it sucks up jumpers, coats, bags, and even shoes at an alarming rate...and they are rarely seen again.
There are three types of labelling options:
1. Sew on
They look lovely and neat, stay on for ever and can even be used to hang a jumper on a peg. But sew on labels are very fiddly, takes time and you have to maintain your enthusiasm for all the new items, term by term, year by year.
2. Iron on
Sooo much easier but the "sew-on-mums" will tell you they don't stay on as well. But if you get decent labels, we think this is a good option.
3. Write on
The laziest or most pressed of us have resorted to scrawling a name on the label in Biro. It's OK as a quick fix but it does wash off and the lost-property-ladies will frown at you! A better option - and by far the easiest - is a laundry marker or even a CD marker.
Labels can be ordered easily online - our favourites are Label Planet and mynametags.com Take a look in the netmums shop to see if there are any special offers on labels right now.
